An Eggshell Breaking from Within
An unpublished collection of poems written between 2005-2014. Initially conceived of as a multi-media project (prose, poetry, and visual art), its most recent incarnation is poetry only.
The poems have subjects ranging from childhood memories, encounters with love, sex, and addiction, comments on consumerism, capitalism, and the environment, questions about the cost to human society of rapid technological innovations in the last few decades, and philosophical perseveration on the changing nature of language, time, and existence. Their forms vary equally widely and include inspiration from Shakespearean sonnets, ballads, haiku, richtameter, shape poetry, and others. Another significant source of inspiration for the book is my home town of Montreal.
